Broadacres is one of the newer residential areas north of Fourways. Large stands, modern roof structures and high household consumption make it one of the best suburbs in the area for a meaningful solar investment.
Most Broadacres homes were built in the 2000s or later. That means concrete tile or IBR sheet roofing with modern truss systems that are designed to carry the additional load of a solar array without any structural concerns. Unlike older suburbs where we sometimes need an engineer's sign-off on roof loading, Broadacres homes in standard configurations can typically support 24-30 panels with no additional assessment required.
The large north-facing roof areas common on Broadacres double-storey homes allow panel layouts that generate meaningfully more power than the smaller arrays that fit on older, more compact homes. A 15kW system with 24 panels and a 20kWh Pylontech battery bank covers nearly the full load of a high-consumption Broadacres home through load shedding, including the pool pump, borehole, multiple air conditioners and a high-capacity geyser. That kind of system is not practical on a 1970s face-brick home in the inner suburbs but works well here.
City Power SSEG registration is a requirement for any grid-tied solar installation, and Broadacres falls under City Power's supply area. We prepare and submit the full application, including the single-line diagram, protection relay compliance documentation and metering requirements. The SSEG process currently takes six to ten weeks, and a correctly submitted application goes through more smoothly than one with missing documentation. We have submitted enough of these to know what the municipality needs first time.

Deye's SUN-15K-SG01HP3 and SUN-12K models are workhorses for the 12-15kW installations common in Broadacres. They handle high-voltage string input from larger arrays cleanly, support multiple battery strings and include built-in monitoring via the SolarmanPV app. For a household where the owner wants to see live generation versus consumption without buying additional monitoring hardware, this is a practical choice that works out of the box.
Sunsynk's 12kW and 16kW hybrid inverters are another option we use in Broadacres, particularly where a homeowner has a preference for the Sunsynk monitoring ecosystem or where the system design benefits from Sunsynk's parallel inverter capability. Running two Sunsynk 8kW units in parallel gives a 16kW combined output that handles three-phase adjacent loads and larger air conditioning systems more effectively than a single large inverter in some configurations.
Battery selection at the 15-20kWh range in Broadacres almost always comes down to Pylontech Force-H or Hubble AM-5 stacks.
